GLIDE
Hoyanation, it was a great Hoya day indeed as Hoyas glide to victory for their 9th win of the season against the Harvard Crimson. Going into the game Jeremy Lin was target man for the Hoyas. The Hoyas did a great defending him today. Greg Monroe's "sense of urgency" defending the paint payed dividends for the Hoyas throughout the game. Monroe's 16 rebounds were a career high for him. Greg Monroe in transition was a sight to see especially when he got a rebound and pushed up the court and had a vicious dunk on the Crimson. The most spectacular hustle play was before the first half ended when Greg Monroe and Chris Wright both dived out of bounds near the end Hoya bench for a loose ball. The Hoya bench rallied big time behind that play as if it were a sick dunk, lol. To me, that was the Play of the Game because it sparked and set the tone for the Hoya defense the rest of the way which caused defensive stops and provided the Hoyas with points off of those defensive stops. The Hoyas shook off the rust early and once again, never looked back Defense play a key role in the game big time.
Chris Wright's leadership provided him with a career high 34 points with great "unselfish team play". Hoyanation and friends see Chris Wright transition into pureness as a point guard is taking place. It's called development! If it's one thing I like in basketball it's "development" especially when your a coach and you see the development right before your eyes. That's the joy anyone coach could get out of coaching As Jimmy V says, "Never give up, never give up". Way to go Chris "Lumpy" Wright. The little things the Hoyas do that add up to the big picture is what it's all about. Jason Clark's scrappy defense and big 3 from the left corner the Hoyas needed at that moment. Austin Freeman's aggressive play (21 pts.) hitting big buckets early on to jumpstart the Hoya offense, great job Austin. Great job Henry Sims, Jerrelle Benimon, big shout out to my man Julian "Ju Ju" Vaughn playing tough in the paint. One thing I can say about this Hoya team, "they have each other's back". They are like brothers because they are the Hoyas.
