A fun day in giving back at the JTIII Foundation Community Festival and Block Party
It was indeed a fun day Coach John Thompson III's Foundation Festival at Turkey Thickett Recreation in the nation's capital. A very hot 95 degrees in late September brought out lots of friends, families and community. The Georgetown Basketball team and managers, coaches were also present. I was glad to be part of the event. I even went as far as to hop on stage with the mic in hand and yelled the WE ARE...GEORGETOWN chant, lol. I couldn't believe I did this, but I wanted to get everybody pump up for the season, and I felt it was my duty as Georgetown's #1 fan to do this to kick the season off. Once the basketball team arrived they started throwing the football around and one thing led to the next. Football practice, yes, football practice.
Well, not exactly football practice, but you would think it was. The passing drills had begun and it got competitive, so I joined in. I don't why I joined in. Something just told me to do it, and yes, I paid for it the next day and the day after with stiff and sore legs, OMG! I could tell you Chris, Austin and Jerelle can throw a football, Jerelle has the big gun, oh man, that dude can throw a football really farrrrrrrr, geez!
They all were great receivers with good hands, I'm glad of that and I know you (Hoyanation) are glad also. It was great to see the golf team come out and give the kids and others some golf tips. It was also Georgetown University's Homecoming which the Hoya basketball team, manager, and coaches attended later on during the day.
Here's are some photo's that I took with some of the players from the festival:

A great weekend for area sports and players
First off, I would like to give my respects to the 9/11 victims and their families. I started my Saturday off with a moment of silence and prayer for the troops and their families here and abroad. Afterwards, I went for my morning swim indoors at my neighborhood recreation center, but the hot tub was broken, not good, but I made it through. Later during the afternoon, I drove to Columbia, Maryland to my neices birthday celebration. It was at Copelands of New Orleans, and I ate some crab stuffed shrimps with fries and sweetened ice tea. I was pretty hungry all due to my swim earlier. I had a lot of fun seeing some of my family especially my mom.
As far as area sports and abroad, it was a special weekend, Maryland's football team won two nice games. The Redskins won their first game against the conference big time rival the Dallas Cowboys. USA basketball won a great FIBA semifinal game against Lithuania which was unbeaten at 7-0, 89-74. Also, Kevin Durant's 38 points broke Carmelo Anthony's record of 33 points in USA basketball.

The next day Team USA won big 81-64 in the FIBA 2010 Championship game against Turkey in Istansbul the capital. It was the first time in 16 years the Naismith Trophy was brought back home to it's rightful birthplace, the USA!

The Hoyas will challenge Duke for National Supremacy in 2011
CLICK ON THE ABOVE
Hoyanation and friends I think it would be nice to meet up with Duke in the Final Four and win the National Championship. I believe the Hoyas can do win it all. I think they're hungry enough and up for the challenge.

Life before the Hoya basketball season
Hoyanation and friends I had some bounce to the ounce this morning, so I did my normal exercise, swimming. I really love swimming now that I'm more older. I prefer the cardio route now, I'm already as strong as I need to be, and I want to perserve what's left of my knees from playing sports for so long. Swimming does the trick for me. Of course I still dribble and shoot the rock that'll always be my first sports love. I decided to take some photos of my route for the morning. There is were I glided to this morning : )
I had "More Bounce to the Ounce" this morning
My swimming palace GW Rec.
The big reliever, hot tub in full effect just waiting on me
Eddie Murphy mocking James Brown on Saturday Night Live back in the day in "Hot Tub"
This is where I get it in, I love it, it's the fountain of youth for me haha
The GW Rec even has a garden in the back where they grow veggies and guess what, they sell the veggies, lol
My main man Chris Orellana works at the GW Recreation Center
After I swam I came and made a Glidehoyas breakfast that included bacon, cucumbers with ranch dressing, scrambled eggs, toast and grapejuice and still was hungry after I ate
This is why I have to swim so much cooking a Glidehoyas dinner like this
This past Thursday I attended my old neighbor Anthony Oduro's high school football game at Robert E. Lee High School in Springfield, Virginia the score was Lee 41 Wakefield 13
