Hoyas "Secret Scrimmage" against #1 UNC?

VS.

Hoyas, I Know

I guess I can write about what I've been hearing, "The Secret Scrimmage."  I find it rather humourous for the Hoyas vs. Tarheels to be labled as "secret scrimmage."  I guess that's just my thing.  Anyway, I think this is a great idea to have a scrimmage against the preseason #1 college team in the land the University of North Carolina Tarheels.  The Tarheels boast college basketball's best player, sophomore Harrison Barnes and sophomore point guard sensation Kendall Marshall dubbed the best point guard in the college game today.

I think the best way to play Marshall is too try and keep the ball out of his hands as much as possible, which is hard to do, but with Markel's quickness and tenacity on defense it shouldn't be that hard to do.  Also, I would make him change directions and go where I want him to go, not where he wants to go and hope for the best.  You have cut the head off of the monster to break it all down (if you know what I mean).  Defense wins championships!

Although it's very early, these two teams can use this scrimmage as a measuring stick to see where each team stand's at this point and time going into the season especially the Hoyas having five freshmen and a young team with only two seniors on deck.  The last time these two teams met this is what happened:

2007 Georgetown Hoyas VICTORY over UNC Tarheels

Both teams have players from the Washington, D.C. metropoilitan area Hoyas' Jason Clark and Markel Starks, and Kendall Marshall.  Senior Hoya guard Jason Clark and Tarheel "true point guard" Kendall Marshall were high school teammates, on Arlington's Bishop J. O'Connell High School varsity basketball team, coached by Coach Joe Wooten, son of the legendary Coach Morgan Wooten of DeMatha High here in the metro area.  Sophomore Hoya Markel Starks hails from Georgetown Preparatory School located in Bethesda, Maryland. Thtroughout their high school careers comparison's have been made between both sophomore talented point guards Tarheel Kendall Marshall and Hoya Markel Starks.  Both were Washington Post's 2009-2010 Boys Basketball All-Mets see video below copy and paste link:  http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-srv/sports/highschools/all-met/2010/winter/boys-basketball/

Starks is often compared in the area to fellow sophomore Kendall Marshall (O'Connell).

Former Hoya and Georgetown Prep Coach Dewayne Bryant on Markel Starks:

"I think Markel is as good if not better (than Kendall and Tyler)," Coach Bryant said. "He can do a lot of things on the floor, from shooting the ball to breaking down defenses. He's an excellent passer.

"I think they're all different players. Markel is a little more of a scoring point guard, Kendall is kind of like a Jason Kidd type of point guard.  Both have all different styles, but Markel is a little bit more explosive as a scorer.  He could probably put up 25 or 30 points per game, but it wouldn't help us win."

I think one other great thing about  this scrimmage is the Hoyas had the opportunity to experiment with some things during their trip to China especially with "The Fresh Five" freshmen now on board.  What I can say is I have "Five On It!"
